Television: Beauty and the Beast — Should it be cancelled?

Posted by JungleBoot on September 13, 2015

Beauty and the Beast recently ended its third season on a positive note — Kat and Vincent (or should it be Vincent and Kat?) finally got married?  Yeah!! But, I have a problem.  Too many shows are running far longer than they should — Supernatural comes to mind.  Vincent and Kat have been through so much — not to leave out JT, Tess, and Heather.  But, the premise of the show is long over.  Unless the viewers have forgotten, Kat discovers Vincent and begins a journey of discovery which leads her to so many unknown truths.  Well, most of those secrets have been discovered and are common knowledge.  Now, the cat is literally out of the bag.  Homeland Security knows the truth about Vincent.  Can you guess how season 4 is gonna go if we don’t stop the nonsense?

I’m sorry.  I like the show.  But, it seems like a good time to put Beauty and the Beast to bed.  I really don’t want to see the show drop into the weekly Police / Homeland Security procedural.  For once, just admit it’s time to move on and focus on your more popular shows that have more story to tell:  Arrow, Flash, and Legends of Tomorrow (hopefully).  It’s also time for CW to leave “Twilight” shows behind and look for new properties.  Almost Human was good.  At least, I liked it.  Maybe it’s time for a new Terminator series that takes into account events of the most recent film.  But, do something new.  Be original.  And for the love of God, give a show a real chance.

Hurricane Ike: Where are the celebrities?

Posted by JungleBoot on September 21, 2008

Where is Oprah?  Where is Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie?  Where is Sean Penn?  Where is Chris Rock and all the others that helped after Katrina?  Are we not worthy of their support?  Or is it due to not having enough national media coverage?  Hurricane Ike was no picnic and it left a lot of devestation.  Just thought I would throw this out there.

In the News: Clinton Wins West Virginia Primary

Posted by JungleBoot on May 14, 2008

Fox news reports that Hillary Clinton has won the West Virginia Primary by a decisive margin. That’s funny.  At least, I think so.  What exactly is a decisive margin?  Any game won by a single point can be called a decisive margin.  Basically, that one point could have gone to either side pushing that team on to victory.  Describing the margin in terms of size would have been a better choice.

Regardless of who wins the Democratic nomination, you should recognize that the Democratic party never thought Barack Obama would make it this far.  All of the candidates put forth were suppose to make Hillary the obvious choice.  But, things didn’t go as planned.  The turd, Obama, actually made a run for the Presidency and stabbed the Clintons in the back.  I say good for him.  They deserve it.  As much crap as that family has put America through, it’s time someone got even.

Now, I don’t support Barack.  I’m not even sure I support McCain.  But, the alternative leaves a bad taste in my mouth.  You would never know who is truly answering that phone in the White House or calling the shots.  Reporters would be constantly asking, “What did Bill have to say about this?”  And, quite frankly, I could care less what comes forth from that bag-of-bones.  Anyway, I have digressed.

By all the stuff I have been hearing, Hillary should drop out of the race.  Instead, the classic preferred Democratic-Gambit is in play — THE ELECTION WAS RIGGED/YOU STOLE MY PRESIDENCY/PICK A STATE AND RECOUNT.  I hope I’m wrong.  We’ll just have to wait and see.

In the News: Chicago University Distances Itself from Rev. Wright

Posted by JungleBoot on May 2, 2008

Rev. Jeremiah WrightThe Chicago Tribune reports that Northwestern University is withdrawing an offer to bestow Rev. Wright with an honorary degree.  The announcement comes after recent controversial statements made by him.

Vice President of University Relations Alan Cubbage said in a statement, “In light of the controversy around Dr. Wright and to ensure that the celebratory character of Commencement not be affected, the University has withdrawn its invitation to Dr. Wright.”

Commentary:  Northwestern makes a wise decision.  They prevent a media circus from disrupting commencement.  The young minds leaving college don’t need their graduation memories tarnished by this man.  Good for them.

We all should take a step back and recognize one thing.  It’s the man we all have problems with.  I could care less that he is a Man of God.  It doesn’t protect him from being evil in his own way.

Political Commentary: Obama Breaking Ties

Posted by JungleBoot on April 30, 2008

Fox News reported on Obama’s breaking ties with Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr.  I wonder about the sincerity of the move and why it took so long.  Obama, as everyone knows, sat in Rev. Wright’s congregation for 20 years.  That bears a certain amount of significance.  Once again, Obama sat in a pew listening to Rev. Wright for 20 years.   That’s a long time.  Even if one’s personality and beliefs change, they make themselves known over time.  You can’t possibly believe Obama didn’t know of Rev. Wright’s tendencies.  I think Obama should have distanced himself a long time ago when he became a United States senator.  Don’t you?  Now, there are two possibilities here:  1) Obama, knowing his life would be investigated with a fine tooth comb, felt he could deal with the issue when it came up.  2) Rev. Jeremiah Wright jr. is an opportunist who knew at some point the reporters and cameras would look his way and simply took advantage of it — effectively tarnishing the reputation of Senator Obama to get on the national scene.  Personally, I think there is some truth in both.  However, the question remains.  Did Obama wait too long to distance himself from Rev. Wright?
